Day 5: Sloths are not slow, they are just freakishly efficient

Sloths are not slow, they are just freakishly efficient.

Sloths eat only leaves which are tough to digest. So they just keep digesting, for long hours. But as leaves don't have much calories, they can't spend the calories exorbitantly on running, flying or making a poison. So sloths spend a very small amount of energy as required, nothing more, nothing less.

They look slow and ugly. But underneath that is an evolved creature, that knows a thing or two about being frugal with its energy. This helps them with having a very slow metabolism which aids in quicker recoveries from injuries. This evolution has helped them become quite abundant in the wild, an evolutionary success.

We can learn a thing or two from sloths. We first put a lot of energy to make food products, machines, appliances etc. Then we don't use them. We waste electricity. We waste inexcusable amount of food. We need to be better.

Become a sloth, not the slow kind but an efficient one.
