Why do we think the world is a meaner place than it is ?

1. Over the long run, the daily news doesn't matter much anyways. These days COVID-19 is ravaging the world. How many of us can really think about 500,000 deaths as a number ? None of us ! It is too big a number to comprehend for our tiny brains. But we still keep following the news to check the death toll. It is enough to know that we should stay home and stay safe.

2. The "business" news also is mostly noise and very little signal. The daily volatility is completely random and in the long run only a clear picture will come out.
